A special 2009 Big Read – D.C. docent-led tour with curator Paul Gardullo, Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and Donna Wells, Prints and Photographs librarian for the Moorland Spingarn Research Center at Howard University. This exhibit illuminates African American life in Washington, D.C. from the turn of the 20th century through the 1970s as captured by the Scurlock family photographers. The tour will highlight stories and photos from the collection from the 1930s.
