Representing the work of approximately twenty printmaking studios from across the United States, the Archives document various artistic and technical aspects of printmaking, as well as the increasingly important collaboration between master printers and artists. Artist drawings, woodblocks and printing plates are only a few of the various preparatory and production materials available. The Zimmerli Art Museum highlights the work of RAPS presses and artists in regularly scheduled rotating exhibitions. Additionally, Archives works are utilized as research materials for faculty and students of art history and fine art. Works donated to the Archives are instrumental to programs and exhibitions at the Zimmerli Art Museum and make up the largest component of contemporary works on paper in the collection.
