Years after the end of the Civil War, a group of veterans came together to form Robert E. Lee Camp Confederate Soldiers’ Home - for veterans who were in need. The boundaries for this camp were Kensington Avenue to Grove Avenue and Sheppard Street to the Boulevard. Join Historic Richmond Foundation at the Confederate Veteran’s Chapel on the site of the Soldiers’ Home, as we listen to Patricia Walenista, award winning researcher on the Old Soldiers’ Home, speak on the history of the camp and the soldiers who lived there.
