The Revenge of the Dead Indians: In Memoriam John Cage, A benefit for OTHER MINDS June 15, 2009

On Monday, 15 June 2009, at Sundance Kabuki Cinemas in San Francisco, OTHER MINDS will present a screening of The Revenge of the Dead Indians: In Memoriam John Cage, a celebration of the work and widespread influence of American composer John Cage (1912-1992), by director Henning Lohner. The one-time screening of this little-known film will benefit OTHER MINDS, San Francisco's maverick new music organization.

*The Revenge of the Dead Indians is neither a feature film nor a documentary: footage of Cage and performances of his music are assembled together with interviews with 42 personalities, from well-known artists to market vendors and street cleaners, "found" video and audio landscapes, and theatrically directed readings.

* The result is an unexpected and fascinating combination of innovative thought, viewpoints, and opinions. Luminaries including Noam Chomsky, Merce Cunningham, Frank Gehry, Ellsworth Kelly, Yoko Ono, and Frank Zappa pay tribute to John Cage in this one-of-a-kind film, which will be screened at 7:30pm on 15 June 2009.
