Folk-rock, roots, afro-beat band The Ragbirds began with a desire to create fresh, original music weaving their love of world sounds into the energetic, catchy songs that leader Erin Zindle had written. The band has come to call this unique blend of styles “infectious global groove”. One of the hardest working bands to come out of Michigan in years, The Ragbirds have averaged well over 125 shows per year for the past two years, and show no signs of slowing down.
Led by Zindle, the energetic and fiery front woman called “Highly Impressive” by USA TODAY, The Ragbirds put on a show that is designed to get people thinking, listening and dancing! She skillfully switches between violin, mandolin, banjo, accordion, and percussion in addition to singing lead vocals, all while dancing! The Ragbirds musical roots are deeply complex, with Americana, Gypsy, Celtic, Middle-Eastern and Latin influences. In live performances the band incorporates variations on traditional African drum pieces.
