This exhibition presents the work of William B. Post, one of America's most important artists of pictorial photography. He helped establish photography as a fine art at the turn of the twentieth century. Post composed his elegant and subtle images through soft focus and subtle tonal qualities. His poetic natural scenes and poignant still life images convey those artistic qualities admired in impressionism and Japanese woodblock prints. This exhibition is featured with the Museum's Japanese print collection to demonstrate the artistic affinity between pictorial photography and Japanese woodblocks.
