A person who has good, virtuous concentration has control over his mind, and his mind does what he wants it to do, like a well-trained horse that obeys its rider. Concentration serves to focus our mind on one object, and it is particularly important for our spiritual practice. When our mind is free from the turbulence of distracting thoughts, it naturally becomes calm and smooth. As a result, when we are enjoying internal peace and happiness our craving for external sources of pleasure naturally declines, and it is easy to remain content. Join us for this special day course where we will learn how to strengthen our mindfulness and concentration through systematic training in meditation.
Taught by Gen Kelsang Rigpa, American Buddhist monk and Resident Teacher at KMC CA. Cost: $55 includes delicious vegetarian lunch.
Please note: For those who are interested, there will be an opportunity to follow this event with a General Program course at KMC CA in November, as well as a concentration retreat at KMC CA, January 20-24, 2012.
