Reedwood Friends Church invites you to hear about:
The Peace for Earth Walk
Rediscovering John Woolmans message for the 21st Century
Friday January 4th, 6:30pm
Meet Quaker EarthPeace" activists Ruah Swennerfelt and Louis Cox who are walking from Vancouver, British Columbia, to San Diego, California, to show that true peace and justice can be achieved only when approached spiritually, as part of the larger Great Work of restoring the integrity of Creation.
What is EarthPeace? It is a call to heal modern humans alienation from the earth and all living things. This call is inspired by the traveling ministry of John Woolman, an 18th century Quaker who saw that strivings after ease and luxury were indirect causes of war, injustice, and ecological degradation. The solution comes from our faith and Friends testimonies.
Ruah and Louis will facilitate discussions to help their listeners consider the ways their own lifestyles may be affecting others. This husband-and-wife team from Vermont will also explain how, in their own lives and work, they try to integrate concern for the environment with Friends long-standing testimonies for simplicity, integrity, peace, and equality.
Come explore next steps that we can take in our own lives to make a difference in the world!
If you can't join us Friday night please consider joining with Multnomah Monthly (4312 SE Stark St.) meeting tomorrow night at 6pm.
Light snacks and dessert will be provided.
