The Parker Arts Council presents “Steel Magnolias”
Robert Harding’s heartwarming comedy comes to life on the Mainstreet Center stage!
Parker, CO - Parker Arts Council continues their exciting 2011 season with Robert Harding’s Steel Magnolias; the story of six southern women who harangue and laugh with each other through the best of times, yet also cry, comfort and repair one another through the worst. The play is alternately hilarious and touching with six female characters that are as delicate as magnolias, yet also prove themselves to be strong as steel.
Steel Magnolias plays Fridays and Saturdays on September 30, October 1, October 7 and October 8 at 7:00 pm and Sundays on October 2 and 9 at 2:00 pm. All shows are presented at Mainstreet Center, 19650 E. Mainstreet in Parker.
Under the direction of Mark Como, this production is a “not to be missed” community event. The show boasts a perfect blend of familiar and new faces to the Parker Arts Council stage. The ornery but loveable Ouiser comes to life on stage in true comedic fashion by newcomer Barbara Porreca. The heartstrings of the story are warmly and empathetically played by Parker Arts Council veterans Kristen Mair and Marilyn Spittler. Newcomer Kristin Wilkens anchors the cast in the role of Truvy, bringing energy and vitality to the world of her homey salon in Chinaquapin, Louisiana. Comedic relief is brought with precision timing by newcomer Danielle Rohr as Anelle. Veteran Patricia Goodman rounds out the cast as the ever-loveable Clairee.
