Literature is a body of written works of imagination characterised by excellence of style, expression, themes and genres of enduring interests. This eight-session course maps the knowledge we know about the important forms, concepts, themes, movements and historical periods in literature. The course provides unique opportunities of learning by guiding students through an overview of theories about the nature of literature, its meaning and thinking behind literary concepts and movements. After exploring literature and its three parts, poetry, novel and drama, the course will examine English literature and all its major periods such as classical, medieval, renaissance, 18th century, Romantic, Victorian, modern and postmodern. The course will also focus on key literary texts in English literature and literary criticism. Details of this event may be subject to change.
