The stage performance of 'The Only Tribe' is Roland Gebhardt's abstract interpretation of a short story by Rebecca Bannor-Addae. Her mythical tale of 'The Only Tribe' explores how identity creates relationships and the notion of safety while, by the same token, stirring conflicting tribal identities that create havoc and disagreement that leads to chaos. Utilizing dance, music/sound, lighting and projected images, the performance will explore issues of tribal/societal identity. Different aspects of tribal conduct will be explored: mutual support; formative ritualistic and spiritual behavior; outside influences and propaganda; segregation; integration; conflict and disintegration.
