G2 Gallery is proud to present The Old Time Band in concert as the fourth of the Rhythms Across the Americas: From the Andes to the Appalachians music series.
The Old Time Band is a trio led by legendary performer Peter Feldmann specializing in Bluegrass music, a style of American roots music that originated in the Appalachian Mountain region. The Old Time Band features the core instruments that are the essence of the bluegrass sound with Bruce Thompson on the fiddle, Wayne Shrubsall on banjo, and Feldmann playing mandolin, guitar, and banjo. Feldmann won the Topanga Banjo/Fiddle Association’s “Music Legend” award in 2008.
The Old Time Band will perform a program entitled “Defining the Roots of Bluegrass” and discuss the history of this American tradition. In addition to being a popular and well-respected musician, Feldmann is also a bluegrass historian, who has been a lecturer at UCLA and University of California, Santa Barbara.
The event begins at 6PM with a reception followed by music beginning at 7PM.
