9/30 Ring Kanzenban - 90 min
For the first time translated and the first time screened in America, comes an early predecessor to the hit horror franchise "The Ring". Not to be confused with the Japanese film "Ringu" or the American remake "The Ring". Long before both of those horror films were made, there was a little known made for TV movie, known now as "Ring: Kanzenban"; its a great film, that is very unlike the later popular versions you may have seen. Don't miss a rare chance to see this! In different parts of Tokyo, four young and healthy people suddenly die of heart failure at exactly the same moment. Reporter Kazuyuki Asakawa decides to investigate the deaths, and finds out the cause is a videotape, that when watched curses the viewer to die in 7 days. Now the clock is ticking for Asakawa. Can he break the curse in time?
Future Showings:
10/7 Corpse Grinders - 73 min
An exploitation film like no other, this 1972 Ted V. Mikels classic is considered to be one of the worst films of all time, but don't let that stop you... its one of those "so bad its good" films that you just can't walk out on. When the Lotus Cat Food Company finds itself in financial trouble, the owners decide to find a new, cheap source of meat -- the local graveyard. Only one problem -- soon cats develop a taste for human flesh, and tabbies are tearing out throats all over town.
10/14 Parents (81 min) Carving Magic (21min)
Thats right, its MEAT NIGHT! Grab a chair and snap into a slim jim as you watch two films that are all about meat. First is Carving Magic, directed by the king of Exploitation film-making, Hershell Gordon Lewis; this kitchy 1950s how-to film will teach you how to properly carve pork, beef, lamb and more! After that comes the main feature, Parents by Bob Balaban, and incredible 1989 cult hit that you must see. Michael is a young boy living in a typical 1950's suburbanite home... except for his bizarre and horrific nightmares, and continued unease around his parents. Especially his father. Young Michael begins to suspect his parents are cooking more than just hamburgers on the grill outside, is something evil brewing or are his suspicions just the product of an over-active imagination?
