Center for the Urban Environment, 168 7th Street
Brooklyn, New York 11215-3147

At CUE, we believe that the future of sustainable communities relies on healthy nonprofits—particularly in forward-thinking cities like New York where leaders from every sector of the economy are setting the standard for equitable and sustainable practices. With the support of the American Express Foundation, our Leadership Institute on Sustainability convenes a group of city leaders to guide us in discussions on the role that sustainability plays in the nonprofit world.

This April workshop will explore the challenges of negotiating the current political landscape:

When and where will the stimulus package impact the local nonprofit community?
What are the untapped opportunities for growth around us?
Where are the major political shifts occurring in the next five years—and how can we best prepare our constituents and organizations for the future?

Panelists include:

Deanna Bitetti, District Representative for the Office of Congress Member Yvette D. Clarke
Ariella Maron, Deputy Director for New York City's Office of Long Term Planning & Sustainability
Thomas McMahon, TLM Associates
Rose Rodriguez, Commissioner Regional Representative / Department of Labor
Ron Shiffman, FAICP; Professor, Pratt Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment; School of Architecture; Pratt Institute
