On July 23, the stars are perfectly aligned for fun as the CytRx Strike Out Lou Gehrigh's Disease All Star Tournament kicks off its fifth season with the Nancy O'Dell Strike Out Lou Gehrig's Disease All Star Softball Game. The family-friendly event, held at Dedeaux Field on the campus of USC, will be a "celebrity-packed" evening filled with stars from film and television competing against a team comprised of some of the most renowned athletes ever to play at the University of Southern California. Ernst and Young is the event's sponsor.
Heisman Trophy winners Marcus Allen and Charles White, baseball superstar Fred Lynn, and former NFL star running back Anthony Davis are just a few of the names scheduled to play against Nancy O'Dell, host of Access Hollywood, and her notable team of actors and celebrities. O'Dell recently lost her mother to ALS and is now a committed advocate in the fight against the diesease.
The game, produced in conjuction with the USC Alumni Baseball Association, caps off a day that includes a free baseball clinic, home run derby, tours of the USC Athletic Hall of Fame, and the opening ceremonies. This year the baseball tournament begins on July 23 and runs through July 26 in Thousand Oaks. A record 40 teams, ages 8-14, will be competing for the tournament's title while raising money through their efforts on the field. CytRx, Natural Balance Pet Foods, and Taco Bell return as major sponsors.
