The Mingus Big Band is a 14-piece orchestra devoted to the vast repertoire of the late Charles Mingus and the music he left behind at his death in 1979. The seven-piece Mingus Dynasty, the original Mingus legacy band, has rejoined the family of the Mingus Big Band & The Charles Mingus Orchestra in bringing the great legacy of Mingus composition to audiences around the world. The 11-piece Mingus Orchestra celebrates the music of the late, great composer and bassist Charles Mingus. It was featured on the Grammy nominated CD 'Tonight At Noon,' performing with Elvis Costello, in 2002.
