These galleries include mineral collections displayed both systematically and thematically, sparkling displays of gemstones in both rough and cut examples, and an exceptional selection of meteorites. Another gallery highlight is the recently acquired 1,600 pound amethyst geode from Brazil.

Marshall Crenshaw opens Centre East’s 2009-2010 season with the exclusive Chicago area engagement in support of Crenshaw’s acclaimed new album (his first in six years), “Jaggedland.” (Crenshaw is in Minneapolis on Sept. 22, Milwaukee on Sept. 23, then at the North Shore Center on Sept 25 before his Sept. 26 gig in Valpo, IN.)

Crenshaw says the term “Jaggedland” best describes the current state of his brain and consciousness. Its 12 songs are musical observations about the human experience, mortality, the state of the world and of course, love as viewed through the inimitable Crenshaw perspective. "This album took a lot of wear and tear on my emotions,” says Crenshaw, “but in the end I think it's one of my best ever...”
