The Mikado Project has officially been selected and will premiere in New York City at the Asian American International Film Festival organized by Asian CineVision. Director Chil Kong, Writer/Actress Erin Quill, and Actor Raymond Lee will follow the screening with a Q&A session.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 20th at 8:45PM
WHY: Life imitates art imitates life. Featuring hip-hop music and dance numbers choreographed by members of dance troupes Kaba Modern and Jabbawockeez, The Mikado Project is a modern reconstruction of The Mikado, a beloved comedy operetta by legendary collaborators Gilbert and Sullivan, that challenges the concept of the caricaturized Asians and captures the struggles that Asian Americans face today.
