The Marijuana-Logues, the cheeky hit Off-Broadway comedy show exploring the facts and fiction of cannabis, makes its return to Chicago at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway, from March 28 through April 1. Lakeshore Theater’s artistic director Chris Ritter together with his consigliore Paul Provenza, director of the hit film The Aristocrats, present a side-splitting commentary on the highs and lows of marijuana as the three-man show chronicles the rites and rituals of pot.
Written and performed by top comedians Arj Barker and Tony Camin, both frequent guests on Comedy Central and late-night network TV, and Doug Benson (VH1’s Best Week Ever, Jimmy Kimmel Live), the show is designed for an audience who is familiar with the ins and outs of the subject (and the substance) whether through first-hand experience or having seen marijuana’s variety of effects on others. The zany sketches in the show are as diverse and humorous as those who indulge. Not since the 60’s has this “taboo” topic been explored in such an insightful and hilarious fashion.
The insatiable appetite of audience members for The Marijuana-Logues and its successful and critically-acclaimed run in New York City, beginning in 2004, have spawned a book, The Marijuana-Logues: Everything about Pot That We Could Remember, and a soundtrack to the show, The Marijuana-Logues. An outrageously funny audience favorite, the show proves that the celebrated controlled substance can inspire 90-minutes worth of genius comedic performance.
The Lakeshore Theater is a 338-seat intimate space located in Chicago’s trendy Lakeview neighborhood at 3175 N. Broadway. Featuring a full bar, professional lighting and sound system, connected box office and full dressing rooms, the theater is perfect accommodation for comedians, concerts and full-length productions alike.
The Marijuana-Logues is playing at the Lakeshore Theater at 8:00 p.m. March 28 through 30, 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. March 31 and 4:20 p.m. on April 1. Tickets are $25 and are available by calling the Lakeshore Box Office at 773-472-3492 or by visiting www.lakeshoretheater.com.
