The Longest Journey: Dante's Purgatorio Course/Class April 1, 2011

Dante's journey out of hell and through Purgatory takes him through regions where lust, gluttony, envy, prodigality, wrath and other transgressions are vividly and memorably described. This lecture-based study day will examine the central ideas and concerns of this work, Dante's literary and philosophical debts, his message to his contemporaries (and to the modern world), and the details of this astonishing journey through a landscape that is at once evocative, timeless, awe-inspiring and unforgettable.
