In 1977 John and Betty Mitchell donated over 3000 Native American objects to create the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian. With the centennial of John's birth, the Museum celebrates his vision of a community-based museum focused on Native American art, history and culture, with an exhibition drawn entirely from this collection. Highlights include Navajo rugs, Southwest baskets and Plains and Woodland beadwork.
