Set in a time-bending, serio-comically imagined world between Heaven and Hell, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is a philosophical meditation on the conflict between diving mercy and human free will that takes a close look at the eternal damnation of the Bible's most notorious sinner. Throughout the play figures ranging from Mother Teresa to Sigmund Freud are called to testify in a trial of "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Judas Iscariot."
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot features Lela Elam ('08 Carbonell winner Best Actress, GableStage's In the Continuum), Kameshia Duncan ('07 Carbonell winner Best Ensemble, Summer Shorts; Fred Diekmann Emerging Artist Award), Bechir Sylvain ('07 Carbonell winner Best Ensemble, Summer Shorts), Sheaun McKinney (Carbonell nominated, GableStage's A Lesson Before Dying; Miami New Times Best Supporting Actor, Ground Up & Rising's Jesus Hopped the A Train), George Schiavone (Carbonell nominated, Mad Cat's Terminal Baggage), and is directed by Arturo Fernandez, Ground Up & Rising's Producing Artistic Director.
