JUILLIARD SINGERS, TENOR KYLE BIELFIELD AND BARITONE TAKAOKI ONISHI, WIN JUILLIARD VOCAL ARTS HONORS FOR 2011-2012

WINNERS' DUO-RECITAL TAKES PLACE THURSDAY, MARCH 22, 2012 AT 8 PM IN ALICE TULLY HALL

Program Includes Songs by Japanese Composers Yoshinao Nakada and Saburo Takada, and Poulenc, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rorem, Strauss

The Juilliard School announces the winners of the School's Vocal Arts Honors for 2011-2012, tenor Kyle Bielfield and baritone Takaoki Onishi, to be presented in the winners' duo-recital on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 8 PM in Alice Tully Hall. Both are students in the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts at Juilliard, where Mr. Bielfield is in the master of music degree program, and Mr. Onishi is in the graduate diploma program.

Pianist Lachlan Glen accompanies Mr. Bielfield in songs by Francis Poulenc, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ned Rorem, and Richard Strauss. Pianist Nozomi Marusawa accompanies Mr. Onishi who perform songs by Japanese composers Yoshinao Nakada and Saburo Takada, Maurice Ravel, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Both pianists are current students in Juilliard's Collaborative Piano Department.
