The Nutcracker
Conceived and directed by Robert Joffrey
Selected choreography by Gerald Arpino
Music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Lights are twinkling and gifts are wrapped--sure signs that the holidays are here again. The Kennedy Center invites audiences to unwrap one of the season's favorite gifts when The Joffrey Ballet returns to perform their Nutcracker. Featuring charming Victorian scenery and costumes, Gerald Arpino's waltzes for the Snowflakes and Flowers, and dozens of dancing and singing children, Robert Joffrey's staging beams brightly from beginning to end. The holidays get off to a festive start with the only Nutcracker that shines with enough yuletide luster to last through the season.
Performance Timing: Act I - 50 min.; Intermission - 20 min.; Act II - 52 min.
