The Jewett Art Gallery at Wellesley College Presents “Transformations” March 3, 2010

“Transformations” examines artists whose work transitions between two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Traditionally, artists have created preparatory drawings that ultimately lead to the completion of a fully realized sculpture. This exhibition presents artists who either reverse this process by fabricating three-dimensional work as a means of generating final two-dimensional work, or who work back and forth between two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. The works in this show aim to highlight the correlations and contrasts that inherently occur when moving between the two media.
