The Jazz Collective Nonet is capable of a large jazz ensemble sound without overpowering the intimate chamber feel of a small jazz band. The book contains post-bop tinged originals and arrangements of the Great American Songbook penned by Manuel Kaufmann, Jim Repa, Greg Hopkins, Freddie Hubbard, Oliver Nelson and Eddie Harris in idioms as varied as soul-rock, mambo, bebop, hardbop, modal, swing and latin jazz.
