Noe Valley Chamber Music presents: The Ives Quartet.
For our final regular season concert performance, this highly acclaimed string quartet will combine the traditional with the cutting edge. The program includes Mozart's Quartet in Bb, Tchaikovsky's Quartet No. 1 in D, and Lou Harrison's Quartet Set.
Inspired by American composer Charles Ives, the Quartet engages its audiences with an exciting and varied repertory of standard and neglected music of the past as well as the newest music of today. The Quartet combines players with American and European experience and sensibilities, drawing on the talent and experience of the international, solo, orchestral, chamber, and recording careers of its artist members. With a reputation for passion, precision and provocative programming, The Ives Quartet is definitely one that should not be missed. The small chamber group features highly celebrated bay area musicians, including Bettina Mussumeli on violin, Susan Freier on violin, Jodi Levitz on viola, and Stephen Harrison on cello.
The performance will take place on Sunday, April 14th at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 111 O'Farrell St. in San Francisco. The concert begins at 4pm. Tickets are $22.50 in advance, $18 for students and seniors, and $25 at the door, $20 for students and seniors.
Noe Valley Chamber Music (NVCM) has been presenting superb chamber music in San Francisco since 1992. NVCM audiences hear and meet the Bay Area's finest musicians, ensembles, and vocalists in the authentic, yet informal, chamber music tradition. A new CD, "Celebration! A Musical Feast," featuring NVCM performers, is now available.
