Inspired by influences ranging from Paul Gauguin's South Seas paintings to French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy's memoir of his heart transplant, Claire Denis' The Intruder follows an aging man (Michel Subor) who traverses the globe looking for his long-lost son and a new heart to replace his ailing one. Shot by regular Denis collaborator Agnes Godard, the film is a haunting collage of reality, memory, and nightmare. (35mm, 130 mins.)

Denis visited the Wexner Center in October 2004 as part of a retrospective of her career; Denis is the director of such lauded films as Beau travail, Vendredi soir, and Chocolat.

Noted film scholar and Ohio State professor Judith Mayne introduces the Friday night screening and signs copies of her recent book on Claire Denis from 6 to 7 PM in the Wexner Center Store.
