The International Rescue Committee will host its annual Freedom Award Dinner to raise funds to support the organization’s lifesaving humanitarian aid work around the world. The Freedom Award, first bestowed in 1957, is presented to individuals for their contributions to the cause of refugees and human freedom. This year’s event will honor Statesman, businessman, philanthropist and IRC legend John C. Whitehead.
The evening will feature special appearances by Mayor Bloomberg, Ann Curry, Anna Deavere Smith, Chef David Burke and a performance by Jencarlos Canela. Other guests include Eden Grinshpan, Candice Kumai and many more. The event attracts some 800 guests every year - among them leading influencers in politics, the arts, society, international affairs, entertainment, academia and media.
