In the late 19th century, Western culture was seized with a passion for Japanese design that shaped the look of the Gilded Age and led to the development of the Aesthetics movement, Arts and Crafts, and ultimately to the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright. Art historian Hannah Sigur's fascinating and beautifully illustrated book, The Influence of Japanese Art on Design, documents Japan's impact on Western design from the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, with lively prose and over 200 photographs from both high and low art of that era.
