ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents The Hurt Locker. Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to score an Oscar for Directing with her riveting portrait of an elite bomb disposal team in Iraq, in a film that also won Best Picture. Capturing the chaos and paranoia of a war zone, Bigelow’s technical virtuosity is on full display, though this is truly an action film of ideas. A.O. Scott of The New York Times pronounced: “You may emerge from The Hurt Locker shaken, exhilarated and drained, but you will also be thinking.”
