Organic Bread Making Class with The Hub
The Hub presents cutting edge events and programs that promote the evolution of Jewish arts and culture. The Hub is for Jewish adults in their 20’s and 30’s (and their friends) who are searching for, questioning, and celebrating their identity.
Roll up your sleeves and head to the kitchen to mix, knead, shape and bake organic bread. Students will learn how to mix and measure ingredients, shape rounds, press out dough into foccacia and roll out the dough to make sourdough crackers. In the end everyone goes home with recipes, a starter, and the encouragement to bake bread on their own.
Instructor Sarah Klein brings the ingredients, culture (a local yeast called Lactobacillus San Francicensus), history, tradition, and tools for making artisan bread into the classroom.
Sarah Klein is a teacher, an artist and a breadmaker. Her work can be seen as a part of the TV series The Endless Feast, The Local Foods Wheel and on her website.
