The Hopper Collection at Magic Theatre extended thru 12/31
Magic Theatre, America's premiere home for new plays, announced a three week extension for the world premiere production of The Hopper Collection by Mat Smart, directed by the Magic's Artistic Director Chris Smith with the closing performance on Saturday, December 31 at 2:30pm. Chosen by Associated Press earlier this year as one of "ten productions to watch around the country," the show has been hailed by critics and audiences alike. The San Francisco Chronicle calls it "an impressive debut? smart, fresh, funny and full of unexpected turns" and The Oakland Tribune raves "evocative, fresh and original."
Absurd and humorous, The Hopper Collection is a post-modern riff on age-old relationships. Words are weapons in Marjorie's world ? along with bathing suits, sunflowers, and a peculiar painting by a modern American master. Devoted husband Daniel is her favorite target until a pair of young lovers crashes the party.
Friday performances on Nov. 25, Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 are followed by a "Talkback" discussion with Magic Theatre artists and staff. The matinee performance on Sunday, Dec. 4, is followed by "Art Collecting for Dummies," an "In Context" panel discussion of experts discussing how to start a personal art collection. Performances will be in the Magic's Sam Shepard Theatre, Fort Mason Center, Building D, Buchanan at Marina Blvd., San Francisco.
Tickets are available by calling (415) 441-8822 or at the Magic Theatre website: www.magictheatre.org.
