Lawrence S. Little, Ph.D., associate professor of African American history at Villanova University will speak on “The History of Black Economic Empowerment” on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the Redmond Room, St. Joseph Hall. Dr. Little’s lecture will examine the economic struggles and accomplishments of African American society from colonial America to present day, with considerations for the economic future of this group. Dr. Little will also speak about the Urban League, an organization that promotes equality and advocates on the behalf of all African Americans that will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.
Dr. Lawrence Little is currently an associate profes¬sor of African American History at Villanova University in Pennsylvania where he has taught since 1993. His teaching areas include: African American History, American History, Racism and Race Relations, Civil Rights, U.S. Foreign Policy, and World History. The event is free and open to the public.
