- It’s going to be a labor of love as Petsmart Charities holds a 3-day National Adoption Week-end, September 9-11. During those three days, more than 2,000 animal welfare organizations across the United States,Canada and Puerto Rico will participate at over 1,187 Petsmart stores to find lifelong, loving homes for more than 16,800 dogs, cats and small animals. The Haven will be present each day from 11am to 3pm at the Eastern Shore Shopping Plaza Petsmart.
“Adoptions save lives”, said Michael Graham, executive director for the no-kill animal shelter in Baldwin County. “We owe these animals, who give us so much unconditional love, a second chance.” The Haven is all about saving lives and will be onsite with MARU (Mobile Adoption Rescue Unit), loaded with the cutest dogs and cats you will ever meet. If you’re looking for that next best friend, come to Petsmart that week-end where the Haven will most assuredly have the one for you.
In addition, authors of the Boat House Buddies Children’s Book Series will be on hand on Friday and Saturday to sell and sign the 7 books currently available in the series. A portion of the proceeds from the recent release, “It’s a Dog’s Life,” will benefit The Haven.
All adoptable Haven animals are current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. They have been tested for heartworms (treated if positive) and feline AIDS/leukemia and treated for fleas and de-wormed. The adopter also receives the animal’s medical records, a FREE bag of Science Diet food, a FREE pet training DVD, a FREE 8x10 pet portrait voucher from JC Penney Portrait Studios and FREE thirty days of pet health insurance. The Haven will also offer FREE info on taking care of pets, and a FREE Maddie’s Activity book for the kids. In addition, Petsmart will offer (while supplies last) a coupon for a FREE bag of Purina Pro Plan dog or cat food. A real bargain for anyone looking to add a pet to the family!
