The 29th Grand Festival of Arts, scheduled for October 7-9 in downtown Fairhope, is now the Grand Festival of Arts and Books due to its partnership with Page and Palette. “This is all about supporting literacy in our community,” said Karin Wilson, owner of Page and Palette. The Haven, a no-kill adoption guarantee shelter, will be part of the festivities. Each day there will be authors of different genres for the public to meet. On Saturday, October 8, from 9am to 12Noon, the spotlight will be on children, teen and young adult authors. Two special guests who will be present include Laura Numeroff, author of a new book, “If You Give a Dog a Donut” and illustrator James Dean with his recently published “Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes.” Around these books, The Haven will hold an adoption event from 9-11am at the Page and Palette location on Section Street. Ms. Wilson said that donuts and milk will be provided for the kids!
“We’re excited to be part of this Grand Festival of Arts and Books,” said Mike Graham, executive director of The Haven. “Page and Palette has always been a great supporter of The Haven and we’re glad to be part of this inaugural event.” The Haven’s MARU (Mobile Adoption Rescue Unit) will be on-hand with lots of cuddly, adorable pets awaiting their forever homes. Even Pete the Cat will be rocking at this event!
