The Haven, an adoption guarantee animal shelter in Fairhope and Moo Che Che, a “Make It YoSelf” frozen yogurt bar, will be teaming up on Tuesday, August 2 to celebrate Spirit Day for The Haven. From 10:30am to 9pm at their Eastern Shore Plaza location (between Petsmart and Panera Bread), Moo Che Che will donate 20% of their total sales to The Haven. Moo Che Che is a recent addition to the Eastern Shore and its make it, weigh it, and pay it process has everyone talking. Owners Jason and Ashley Balius said that, from the time they created their business plan, they wanted to use their business to give back to the community. “Our family has a soft spot for animals,” said Jason. “The Haven’s mission to eradicate euthanasia in Baldwin County is definitely something we want to support.”
All the proceeds that the Haven receives on August 2 will go to their Queenie’s Fund, a special fund for severely abused cats and dogs. It was named in honor of Queenie, a black lab who resided at The Haven for nearly two years. Despite the tough life she endured prior to entering The Haven - which included having hot oil poured on her back - Queenie always had a great spirit. She was adopted in 2005 and for the rest of her life knew only love, comfort, and happiness. She passed away several years ago, but she will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Eating yummy yogurt and helping The Haven at the same time … a win-win for both organizations! If Queenie were still with us, her owner, Haven volunteer Marilyn Moen, would most likely let Queenie have a lick from a Moo Che Che creation, as she loved to eat!
If you cannot participate in the August 2 event, consider making a donation to The Haven’s Queenie’s Fund at PO Box 1063, Fairhope, AL 36532. For more information, contact The Haven at 251-929-3980 or Moo Che Che at 251-626-9992.
