Houdini’s legend was revived a half century after his death in this made-for-television film starring Paul Michael Glaser and Sally Struthers as Harry and Bess Houdini. The film focuses on a fictionalized sense of tension between Houdini’s mother (Ruth Gordon) and Bess over their respective religions—Judaism and Catholicism. Directed by Melville Shavelson.
