The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts presents The Great Broadway Sing-Along 2010: Celebrating a Century of Musicals on Saturday Feb. 20, 2010 at 8:00 pm. The event will be held at the Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael as a part of our Music of the World Series.
The Great Broadway Sing-Along was conceived and created by Producer Ellie Mednick for the Words & Music Series at Marin Theatre Company in November of 2002. It was an instant success, and for the next five seasons all performances of the Sing-Along at MTC were sold out. In 2003, Ellie was asked to bring this successful format to the San Francisco Jewish Community Center's Kanbar Hall, where it has also played to full houses for the past six years, including earlier this year.
The format has never changed: Three soloists lead the audience in the best of Broadway songs of every style and from every time period, so often demonstrating the social and political mood of the country, and in tune with the latest musical trends. The fine soloists (Karen Thomson Hall, Robert Brewer and John Patrick Moore) also have their moments to shine with an occasional solo, duo or trio.
Continually working with the finest of music directors/accompanists, and on Feb. 20th will present accomplished pianist Daniel Lockert giving the full support of a Broadway score to singers, and singing audience.
This will be the first time The Great Broadway Sing-Along will be presented at the Osher Marin Jewish Community.
This is the perfect for family, friends, neighbors, and kids of community to join together to "Sing Out, Louise!" and get into the true enjoyment and thrill of singing together with so many voices, no matter age or your range.
Ticket cost: $26 adults/ $13 students
