The Grand Step Project
Stephan Koplowitz
June 15 - 28, 2004

50 dancers and acclaimed choirs perform in Stephan Koplowitz's largest site-specific work to date. From Brooklyn to Manhattan and the Bronx, six of New York City's most magnificent staircases come alive in director/choreographer Stephan Koplowitz's largest site-specific work to date. 50 dancers fill the stairs with movement that evokes the historic and contemporary uses of each staircase. Dancers perform to an original score by composer Quentin Chiappetta. At each performance, the 15-minute dance segment is preceded by a 15-minute segment, in which an acclaimed choir sing from its repertoire.
