June 15 -September 29, 2012; please call the gallery for days and viewing times
This spectacular 3 month exhibition celebrates the 75th anniversary of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge and showcases for the first time original vintage photographs of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge by photographer Milton E. Taylor that are printed from original vintage glass plate and film negatives from the collection of John Bosko. Mr. Bosko has been collecting original vintage photographic negatives of all kinds for nearly twenty years, many of which can be seen on his Flickr account under user name "jbpics".
Milton Taylor had access to the entire construction site and produced some very dramatic views from all angles and vantage points around the construction site, from the top of the towers to the water level, from both the south end to the north end of the bridge, and from start to finish of this monumental and spectacular engineering feat. He produced hundreds of superb negatives, some are 5x7 glass plate negatives taken with a 5X7 Speed Graphic which he is pictured with in one of the images.
Contemporary views of the bridge from 27 local photographers round off the show giving a then and now look at a world icon! Please call the gallery for days and viewing times through Sept 29th, 2012.
