At once a love story, a romantic comedy, and a delightfully screwball scrapbook, "The George Carlin Letters" offers a rare glimpse into the heart and soul of a comedy legend, as told by the woman who knew him best, Sally Wade. They were kindred souls who met in a bookstore, and their story is told in this collection of never-before-seen writings and artwork by the late great comedian George Carlin, all of which is woven into Wade's beautifully told chronicle of the last ten years of their life together.
George Carlin (1937 – June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, social critic, actor and author who won five Grammy Awards for his comedy albums. He hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975. In 2008, he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Sally Wade is a comedy writer and performer who has written over thirty-five screenplays, TV episodes, and development deals. She has written for the Beach Boys, Doobie Brothers, President Gerald Ford, George Clooney, Norman Lear, Elliot Gould, and others.
