Prohibition in the United States, took place between 1920 to 1933. At that time, the newly enacted 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibited the sale, manufacture, and transport of alcohol anywhere in the country.
Counter to what prohibition had hoped to accomplish, the sale and consumption of alcohol during this time actually increased, and the law actually gave the mafia the perfect environment for them to thrive. But once prohibition was abolished, the sale and distribution of alcoholic products mushroomed even more.
In a similar fashion, many of the laws that prohibited the sale and use of marijuana are beginning to unravel, and a mushrooming demand is starting to unfold. One person's prohibition is another person's golden opportunity.
With a massive subculture already in place of people consuming marijuana illegally, little marketing is needed to attract customers to the new medical marijuana dispensaries. The market is both pervasive and growing.
But where do we go from here? Is medical marijuana the first step towards the full legalization on marijuana? And if so, how will it be regulated and managed? Where are the opportunities in the middle of all this?
Join us as we probe the future of marijuana and the effects it will have on society.
