The Calgary Council for Advanced Technology presents a breakfast event featuring Cathy Faber, Director of Curriculum and Learning Technologies at the Calgary Board of Education, who will discuss the future of online education in a global society.
More and more educational institutions are offering online or blended programs to accommodate the changing needs of today’s students. Because these programs reach new student markets, the educational institutions receive the benefit of increased revenue and viability. However, online education also faces numerous challenges such as high attrition rates due to the lack of personal interaction and support, and competition from other institutions offering similar programs.
In her role at the Calgary Board of Education, Cathy leads a team of technology, curriculum, and learning specialists, consultants and strategists to support professional learning and leadership within the Calgary Board of Education. Critical to the work of this team is the framing of public education within the context of a global society.
Come out to hear Cathy give her insights into what the landscape of education will look like for future generations.
