The swinging, energetic big band sound of the Gene Krupa Orchestra will collaborate with the vocal harmonies and chart topping hits of the Four Freshmen in an unforgettable concert! Both groups are jazz powerhouses in their own right, their combined talents will knock your socks off. The Gene Krupa Orchestra, which influenced some of the great big band leaders including Buddy Rich and the current leader Michael Berkowitz, blazed through the swing era with memorable hits including “Drum Boogie” and “Sing! Sing! Sing!” Mr. Krupa performed the legendary drum solo that was behind the driving hit with Benny Goodman. The Four Freshmen have remained popular since their debut in the 1950’s. Their catchy melodies and innovative use of brass instruments led to such hits including “It’s a Blue World,” “Day by Day,” and their most well known song “Graduation Day.” Recently, they were awarded “Vocal Group of the Year” by the jazz magazine Down Beat. Don’t miss this swinging performance where you will hear both groups perform their greatest hits together.
