The Forest Hill Lake officially opens this Saturday, May 22 with the Forest Hill Regatta.
At the Regatta, you can put your boat in the water for one-day only -- although boats are not normally allowed, the Regatta hopes to become an annual tradition -- or just come down to watch the boating festivities, including:
-Kayaking competition
-Dog swim competition
-Best dressed yacht
-Paddling competition for groups of six -- the only catch is that you have to paddle across the lake without any paddles
If you'd like to register to participate in the Regatta, fill out the form here. Most events cost $10 to $25 to participate.
If you do, you'll be a charter member of the Forest Hill Yacht Club.
Which doesn't really mean anything, says organizer Robley Jones, jokingly, except that you'll be able to "look down your nose at the rest of humanity."
Especially Westover Hills.
"Forest Hill will have a Yacht Club and Westover Hills won't," Jones says in gest. "We are rivals."
