Art Teachers Redefined is an art exhibit organized by art teachers “honorably dismissed” by the 2010 Chicago Board of Education. During the summer of 2010, the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) gave CEO Ron Huberman and local principals the unlimited power to dismiss teachers. Many of them were art teachers, unable to work, losing benefits, pensions and respect. This art exhibit not only conveys the artist’s frustration with CPS but also demonstrates that art and they as art teachers can offer insight and inspiration.
Art is a creative force benefiting society at all levels and should not be neglected by our public educational system. Join the FIAA as it puts the work of these frustrated, talented teachers on display
