Poised to grow into one of the most important sculpture exhibitions in the country, the Port of San Diego’s Premiere Sculpture Show will be magnificently presented along the picturesque waterfront location of the Embarcadero Marina Park North. This singular exhibition will be held Saturday, October 14th and Sunday October 15th, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will be highlighting renowned regional, national and international sculpture artists, showcasing their art in a variety of mediums, and will be juried by an illustrious assembly of curators. The event includes an Honorary Artists Gallery, containing a collection of works from Therman Statom, Christopher Lee, Wendy Maruyama and Marcos Ramirez/ERRE, revealing the innovative constructions of glass, wood and a combination of other materials. Sculpture Show guests will have the unique opportunity to experience the historic context presented by established artists with international acclaim, as well as the new artistic interpretations and fresh points of view from younger sculptors. A remarkable inclusion to the exhibition is a Speakers’ Forum, which will provide a discussion for the displayed pieces and art collecting through an enlightening examination of trends and progress in art production and the art market. This truly dynamic art show will fill the park with an explosion of sights, sounds, discovery and discourse of seasoned art collectors to the next-generation of art enthusiasts. The art appreciation will extend to the adjacent Art Walk festival located on the bay, in front of the Sculpture Show, and will display the diverse beauty of the San Diego art scene.
