The Films of Harold Lloyd – A Retrospective

With his signature straw hat, round glasses and innocent enthusiasm, silent film comedian Harold Lloyd personified the go-getter spirit of the 1920s and is regarded as one of the greats of the genre. Having made more films than Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton combined, silent film comedian Harold Lloyd began his career with his iconic short films before he helped pave the way for the advent of the “feature-length” film. Movie Crazy is one of Harold Lloyd’s early forays into “talkies.”

Harold Hall, an accident prone young man with little or no acting ability, desperately wants to be in pictures. After a mix-up with his application photograph, he gets an offer to have a screen-test, and goes off to Hollywood. At the studio, he does everything wrong and causes all sorts of trouble. But he catches the fancy of a beautiful actress, and eventually the studio owner recognizes him as a comic genius.
