The extraordinary presence of Bette Davis, and her ability to embrace the roles in which she was cast, made her arguably the greatest screen actress of the 30s and 40s. A multiple Oscar winner, she was formidable in a series of opulently-produced melodramas including Of Human Bondage, Dangerous, Jezebel, Dark Victory, The Little Foxes, Now Voyager, Deception, All About Eve and many others. Younger audiences re-discovered her when she played opposite her old rival, Joan Crawford, in the bizarre horror film, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? Three Bette Davis films will be screened in full, with excerpts from many more, plus excerpts from a documentary about her.
